Car buying
Let me talk to your sales manager.
The car is $31,000 on the website and $34,900 on the worksheet, after the nitrogen tires and the “protection package.” Hire a human to collect written out-the-door quotes from several dealers, cut the extras and negotiate, while you stay out of the showroom until it’s time to sign.

What counts as a win
You name the number. The bonus rides on it.
Out-the-door price ≤ your number
One number including the vehicle, add-ons, doc fee, taxes and registration. The only number that matters.
Add-ons removed
Paint protection, VIN etching, nitrogen, “market adjustment.” Each one off the worksheet.
A fair trade-in
A written trade-in number at or above the instant offers you already have.
Financing beaten
A dealer rate at or below your bank or credit union pre-approval, with no add-ons tied to it.
Know where you stand
What protects you at the dealership
There’s less federal protection than you might think, which is why everything should be in writing before you sit down.

The FTC’s CARS Rule is gone
The FTC’s 2024 rule on dealer junk fees and add-ons was vacated by a federal appeals court in January 2025 and formally withdrawn in February 2026. Dealer fees and add-on practices are now mostly a matter of state law and general FTC rules against deception.

Doc fees are set by the dealer and capped only in some states
There is no federal limit on dealer documentation fees. Some states cap them and many don’t, which is why your Karen negotiates the out-the-door price rather than the sticker.
A Karen negotiates and compares; they don’t sign anything, take a deposit, or give financing or legal advice. Read the buyer’s order yourself before you sign.
How it works
You vent once. Karen does the hold music.
- 01
Pick the car, roughly
Make, model, trim, must-have options and colors you’d accept. Add your pre-approval and trade-in offers if you have them.
- 02
Karen gathers quotes
Your Karen asks dealers for itemized out-the-door quotes by email and phone, and keeps a side-by-side so nobody hides fees in the monthly payment.
- 03
Offers against offers
The best written quote goes to the other dealers. Add-ons get challenged line by line.
- 04
You sign, Karen checks
You review the final buyer’s order against the agreed quote before you sign. Bonus paid when the numbers match.
The money, itemised
What this costs, worked out.
The first dealer’s worksheet says $34,900 out the door. Over a week your Karen spends 5 hours getting quotes from five dealers, removing a $1,495 protection package and playing two offers against each other. You sign at $31,350, $3,550 less than the first worksheet.
You choose the hourly rate, the cap and each bonus. You fund that worst case up front, plus a 18% platform fee, and it sits in RentAHuman escrow. You approve the hours and each win; everything you don’t approve comes back with its share of the fee. Example numbers; your case sets its own.

FAQ
Things people ask before going full Karen
Can I hire someone to negotiate a car price for me?
Yes. Many dealers will quote by email or phone to anyone who asks; your Karen collects itemized out-the-door quotes, negotiates them against each other, and hands you the best one to sign.
How is this different from a car-buying service?
Car-buying services usually charge a flat fee, often several hundred dollars to about $1,000. A Karen bills by the hour up to your cap, plus a bonus you set that only pays if the price hits your target.
Will my Karen pretend to be me?
No. Your Karen says they’re shopping for a buyer. When it’s time to put down a deposit, check credit or sign, that’s you.
Does it work for used cars and leases?
Yes, as long as the win is a number. For a lease, use the cap cost, money factor and fees as objectives instead of the out-the-door price.
